What does Stoneham need?

The Select Board, School Committee and Finance & Advisory Board meet periodically as a Tri-Board to discuss the Town's budget which includes the fiscal challenges the Town is facing. The following videos will provide insight into the recent discussions as the Town looks to the Fiscal Year 2026 budget which will allow the Town to operate from July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026.

At the School Committee Meeting held on December 12, 2024 the Superintendent presented the FY26 School Department budget and their needs.

At the Select Board meeting held on January 7, 2025 the Police, Fire and the Public Works Departments presented their needs to the Town.

The Director of Planning & Community Development also updated the Select Board on the progress made by the Zoning Bylaw Review Committee tasked with reviewing the Town's Zoning Bylaws for recodification. The committee plans to hold public engagement sessions in the Spring and Summer of 2025 to receive comment and feedback from the reisidents. The committe anticipates presenting a zoning recodification at the Special Town Meeting in October.

Town Administrator's FY26 budget recommendation with a phased in approach

At a Tri-Board meeting held on March 6, 2025, the Town Administrator discussed a phased in approach should the override in the amount of $14.6 million pass on April 1st. He expected to go to Town Meeting using $9.4 million, therefore, requiring less taxes be raised in the firsat year.
